LIGHTWAVES 2025
LIGHTWAVES was hosted in Chapel St Leonards on Friday 24 October from 6pm until 8pm, followed by Sutton on Sea on Saturday 25 October from 6pm to 9pm these free events transformed the villages into glowing hubs of artistic expression and light.
LIGHTWAVES was produced by SessionsArts, a creative production company known for delivering high-quality events and fostering community engagement. It is closely linked to the Spilsby Sessions House project, which aims to revive a historic venue as a cultural hub.
This event is part of the Partnership's Story Tellers NPO project through funding from Arts Council England, which looks to support arts, culture, heritage and creativity across the whole of South and East Lincolnshire, providing meaningful opportunity and programming for residents, developing the sector and helping to build the local arts, culture and heritage offer.
During the week leading up to LIGHTWAVES Nadya Monfrinoli and Louise Jones of Lumo Workshop ran creative workshops with Chapel St Leonards Primary School, Sutton on Sea Primary and two open workshops, one at the Seaview Colonnade and one at the Methodist Church in Sutton on Sea. 121 people attended these workshops.

Fire Garden Spectacle

Self-led Light Walk to North Sea Observatory
Take part in the self-guided Light Walk along the beachside path.
Bring your own glow! Illuminate yourselves, your dogs, pushchairs, and wheelchairs as you enjoy the 15-minute stroll from Chapel to North Sea Observatory any time during the evening. The Light Train was a newly created interactive arts piece brought to life by performers Martyn Bignell and Alex Flanagan, bringing music and fun to those who were taking the walk along the sea front during the evening.
Interactive UV Fish Tank

SUTTON ON SEA
Can Samba – brought rhythm and energy with live drummers.

Mr Holly’s Newton-O-Matic An interactive, physics-powered invention blending science, play and theatre, created by kinetic contraption specialist Matt Pang and produced by Mr Holly. Celebrating the legacy of Sir Isaac Newton with hands-on activities and surprising performances.
Projection & Digital Art
Electric Egg – ‘There Be Monsters’, an animated film projected on High Street. Animated projection (4mins - loop) Set sail across unchartered seas on a voyage of discovery, pioneering new routes, encountering new lands and coming face to face with new and mysterious creatures. Be on your guard because in the depths of the ocean and on the fringes of the map There Be Monsters, and they do not take too kindly to those who trespass their waters and plunder the hidden corners of our globe. This a new animated projection animation work from Electric Egg Inspired by the Lincolnshire Explorers and Adventures of the 17th, 18th & 19th centuries this piece takes a sideways look at what may have happened had they encountered the monsters that decorated their maps and charts.
MBD’s Infinite Museum – an immersive VR experience.

Designs in Air – wild and wonderful illuminated inflatable octopus tentacles on top of the Seaview Colonnade.
Lantern Parade
Led by local schoolchildren and community groups, over 200 lanterns lit up the street in a joyful procession. There was a party atmosphere and a finale at the Seaview Colonnade where you could dance to the ship’s captain’s party tunes!
Parade began at 6.30pm, moved from the Methodist Church to the Seafront, arriving at Seaview Colonnade by 7pm for a 5-minute audience participation routine.
